How does the Express Your Taste competition work?

There is a prize of £1,000 to be won at the end of the competition period (there are 50 prizes of £1,000 plus your content appears as part of a Pepsi campaign). To enter, you must upload a video showing a sound that describes how the taste of Pepsi makes you feel to www.pepsi.co.uk/taste (the Website). To qualify, your entry must be based on the "Express Your Taste" theme – more about it can be seen on the site.

Can anyone enter?

Yes! As long as you’re over 16 on the 2 July 2007 and a UK resident.

I am under 16. Can I still enter?

Yes. But if you were under 16 on 2 July 2007 then you’ll have to get a parent or guardian to sign a consent form for you. This is a legal requirement to say that they agree to you entering and that you agree to stick to the rules of the competition. Unfortunately, if you are under 16 and can not provide authorisation your entry will be disqualified. Download Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form.

When is the last date I can enter?

The last time you can upload an entry is 11.59pm on 17th August 2007.

Do I have to buy a can of Pepsi to enter?

No. No purchase is necessary to enter the competition.

6. So, how do I become a winner?

Every entry can be rated every day from 2nd July to 31st August 2007 by visiting www.pepsi.co.uk/taste and using the Pepsi Max Slider. 5 entries with the best average rating at the end of every week from 30th July to 31st August 2007 will be deemed the People's Winners and win the prize. To qualify for the prize, each entry must be rated 10 times or more. Additionally, at the end of every week from 30th July to 31st August, 5 winners will be selected by the Express Your Taste Judge who will be deemed the Choice Cuts Winners. Each winner selected by the judge will also win the prize.

Are there any alternative prizes?

No, but if, for some reason PepsiCo is unable to provide the stated prize, they reserve the right to award an alternative of the same value.

Who decides who wins?

Everyone who visits www.pepsi.co.uk/taste will be able to rate any clip and therefore has a say in who become the People’s Winners. The 5 entries with the best average rating at the end of each week for 5 weeks will win. Additionally, the competition judge will select 5 winners a week for 5 weeks who become the Choice Cuts Winners.

How will I know if I have won?

The winner will be notified via email within a week of the selection date. The Winner will be notified a maximum of 3 times via email. If the winner has not responded after 3 emails, their prize will be given to someone else and they will forfeit their prize.

Is anyone making sure that the ratings are above board?

Yes. PepsiCo will keep an eye the number of ratings and the activity on the Website. If there is enough proof to suggest malpractice and manipulation of the rating process then PepsiCo has the right to remove entries and, if necessary, award the prize to a different contestant. PepsiCo’s decisions are final.

Are there any restrictions to submitting a video?

Yes, there are a few restrictions. PepsiCo reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and remove any entry that does not comply with the following requirements, even after it has been submitted to the website. PepsiCo will not take part in dialogue with any contestant who has been refused entry or otherwise.

12. Your entry will be disqualified and removed from the site if:

• Your entry has been previously published, released or distributed in any form or has already won any award.
• Your entry is not original or your own work.
• Your entry contains any personally identifiable information about you or any one else.
• Your entry contains any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libellous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content.
• Your entry contains any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.
• Your Entry infringes upon the copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or which violate any person's rights of privacy or publicity.
• Your entry contains stock footage or existing music that has been purchased or the rights to use it secured in any way.
• Your entry contains any commercial content that promotes any product or service other than that of PepsiCo.
• Your entry contains screen credits.

When I submit an entry, do I have any responsibilities?

Yes. When you submit an entry you have a responsibility to make sure that:

• You have all the necessary rights to enter the ‘Express Your Taste’ competition and have your entry displayed on the Website.
• Your entry does not contain or infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity.
• Everybody who appears in your entry has given their permission to be portrayed as shown.
• Any costumes, props or other materials used must be rented or borrowed with the permission of the owner, and all other relevant permissions must have been obtained.
• If you are under 16, you have your parent/guardian’s consent to participate in the Contest. Download Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form.

I am under 16. What happens if I do not provide a valid Parental/Legal Guardian consent form?

If PepsiCo does not receive a valid signed Parental/Legal Guardian consent form for any winner who is under 16 on 2 July 2007, PepsiCo will be entitled to select an alternative winner from among the entries. Download Parental/Legal Guardian Consent Form.

Who owns the rights to my video once I’ve uploaded it?

Once you’ve uploaded your entry, PepsiCo owns the copyright. By submitting your entry for the ‘Express Your Taste’ competition, you give the worldwide rights, including all intellectual property and interest that is created from it, to PepsiCo.

How many times can I enter?

You can enter as many times as you like. If your video doesn’t win, it will automatically stay in the competition for users to vote on it again the following week.

How long is the promotion running for?

You can upload an entry to Express Your Taste from 2nd July to 17th August 2007. The final winner will be confirmed within a week of the winner selection.

I do not have a webcam. Can I enter the competition in another way?

You can create a video using a camera, mobile phone or camcorder. As long as you upload it to the site and stick to the rules it will be entered into the promotion.

Do I automatically win a prize just by entering?

No. Sorry, but you have to either score the highest average rating on the Pepsi Max Slider or have your entry selected by the Judge to win.

Can I take part if I live outside the UK?

No. This promotion is only open to residents of the UK.

I don’t have a PC. Can I use someone else’s?

Yes, but you must get their permission before entering.

Can I enter a video after the closing date?

No, we will not be accepting entries after the closing date. All entries must be received by 11.59pm on 17th August 2007.

Do I have to be over 18 to enter the promotion?

No you do not have to be over 18 to enter the promotion. However, players under 16 must have a parent or guardian’s permission to take part.

How will I receive my prize?

Once we have confirmed your address and personal information, we will contact you with full details of how to redeem your prize.

Don’t worry. As long as you have responded to your winner’s email, your prize will be with you shortly.

Will I have to take part in promotional publicity if I win?

By entering the ‘Express Your Taste’ competition, you and your team agree to take part in related publicity and to allow PepsiCo to use your name and photograph for advertising, promotion and publicity purposes without any further compensation. By entering, you and your team agree that PepsiCo, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents are not liable for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in the ‘Express Your Taste’ competition.

What’s the deal with my personal information?

By entering the Contest, you are agreeing that PepsiCo may have the personal information you provided on registration. PepsiCo is restricted to using your personal information according to its privacy policy.

Will my personal information be kept on file for other uses?

By entering the promotion, you agree to receive communication/emails that are related to this promotion. You will only receive additional information from PepsiCo if you have “opted in” during the registration process.

I entered the ‘Express Your Taste’ competition and now I’m getting spam. Is it anything to do with PepsiCo?

No. Your details will not be provided to a third party without your permission either during or after the promotion.
